A collection of ideas for experimenting with different media and for combining them to produce particular effects. Materials are mostly traditional - though acrylics and oil pastels also feature - but some of the techniques may be unfamiliar. They include the superimposing of one type of paint on another, the play of transparent and opaque, ink and wash, roller tehniques, various kinds of rubbing and off-setting, the magic of resist patterns, the fun of marbling and collage. There are over 200 specially prepared drawings and paintings in which all these subjects are described in terms of medium and technique.
